Compressors

An air compressor is a device that converts power (usually from an electric motor, a diesel engine or a gasoline engine) into kinetic energy by compressing and pressurizing air. There are numerous methods of air compression, divided into either positive-displacement or negative-displacement.
The following list shows examples of different types of air compressors:
  • Reciprocating compressor;
  • Rotary screw compressor;
  • Single-stage compressor;
  • Multi-stage compressor;
  • Low pressure compressors;
  • Medium pressure compressors;
  • Super high pressure compressors;
  • Low capacity compressors;
  • Medium capacity compressors;
  • High capacity compressors;
A gas compressor is a mechanical device that increases the pressure of a gas by reducing its volume. Compressors are similar to pumps; both increase the pressure on a fluid and both can transport a fluid through a pipe. As gases are compressible, the compressor also reduces the volume of said gases.
